The Rittner Buam have no issues against the Viennese

Collalbo, October 16, 2021 - The Rittner Buam continue to ride the wave of success. Santeri Heiskanen's team on Saturday night celebrated a crystal-clear 5:2 victory at home against the Vienna Capitals Silvers.  For the blue-reds this was the sixth success in a row and the ninth victory in ten days of the 2021/22 Alps Hockey League championship.

SUMMARY: The Rittner Buam, who have to do without Manuel Öhler and Jakob Prast, deploy Hannes Treibenreif to defend the goal and dictate the rhythm in the home stadium. Stefan Quinz' goal with which they take the lead after 8'36" minutes of the game is a logical consequence: Widhalm is unable to keep the puck thrown by Giacomuzzi, the puck is grabbed by the number 14 of the Rittner Buam who shoots it in backhand. Even in the following minutes, the blue-reds keep the control of the game, but are not able to repeat with a second goal. The Viennese guests don't sting much in attack, but for a couple of times they appear dangerous in front of Treibenreif.

For the house masters, the middle frame starts with a scare when at the 23rd Draschkowitz takes a post. Narrowly, however, Kevin Fink extends with a shot that rolls into the goal through Widhalm's legs (24'35", 2:0). For the number 91 of Renon, this is the first goal 656 days after the last one, scored on December 30, 2019 during the 8:2 victory against Gherdëina. The Rittner Buam's celebrations for Fink's goal have not yet dampened when Markus Spinell scores the 3:0 goal: the winger surprises Widhalm between the suspenders (25'07"). Shortly after Mantsch has to go to sit in the penalty box and Heiskanen's team also scores while on the powerplay. Julian Kostner masterfully shoots the puck at the cross of the posts (30'18"). The 4:0 lead probably closes this one-sided game.

Against the harmless Viennese, the Rittner Buam manage to score even with a man down. At the 43rd minute of the third period, Pechlaner has to leave the ice and shortly after Simon Kostner stretches with the 5:0. He took advantage of a masterful assist of Spinell, who left two adversaries, passed the puck to Kostner and the captain placed the puck in the Viennese goal without any difficulty. Ten minutes before the end, Nilsson cancels the shutout possibilities for Hannes Treibenreif.  On the power play - with Eisath in the penalty box - the guests counter-attack and shorten the score to 5:1 (50'12"). In the following minutes, the Rittner Buam could score the sixth goal, but it is the Vienna Capitals Silver players who score three minutes before the end with Pallierer, who beats Treibenreif with a covered shot and scores the final 5:2.

At the end of the game, the two best players of the match are awarded with a gift from the sponsor Loacker: Alex Nilsson Andersson for the guests and Markus Spinell for the hosts. For the Rittner Buam the Alps Hockey League will continue on Thursday 21st October away against SG Cortina Hafro. The match will start at 8.30 pm.
